What Is Kundalini Yoga?

Kundalini Yoga is an ancient practice of developing harmony between body, mind and spirit. It is an exploration of who we are as human beings. It teaches us to be mindful of our thoughts and emotions, and it helps us heal both physically and internally. To master yoga is to master yourself; to dwell firm in the present moment.

Energy Work

Although kundalini yoga consists hugely of exercise, its nature is different from what we are used to. Instead of building physical strength or fitness, in yoga we work with the body's energy system to heal, clear cellular memory and the subconscious mind. Yoga works on all levels of our being, allowing us to constantly discover new depths within.

Techniques

In kundalini yoga we work a lot with pranayama (breathing), mantra (sound current) and mudra (hand position). We use asanas (yoga poses) sequenced in kriyas (yoga sets) to achieve various effects. Each set comes from a centuries-old tradition, designed by yoga masters of the past and passed on through generations.

10. This "yoga philosophy" is complicated. I understand none of it.
That is because you are trying to understand knowledge that came from beyond the mind using your intellect. The result of this will always be the same - mental indigestion. Intellect, although very useful in practical things, is the greatest obstacle in spiritual growth. Don't try to understand. Rather, just feel, allowing those teachings to open doors within you you never knew that existed.
11. I don't agree with what you say about yoga philosophy.
Well, you don't have to. In fact, you should never believe without question in what you hear. Rather, allow our teachings to make you reflect, and come to your own conclusions. That being said, do notice if there is any particular thing that produces resistance. True spirituality is brutal in that regard - the whole purpose is to destroy your small mind with its small beliefs, so that you may grasp the reality beyond. Considering that most people are very much identified with their minds, spiritual awakening can often feel as death itself - not very pleasant at all.
12. Can I still benefit from the courses if I practice regularly already?
